"It is good to give thanks to the Lord..."

-Psalm 92:1

Why is it good to give thanks to the Lord? To begin, He has given us His Son so that we may be forgiven of our sin and never come under His condemnation. He has not only removed the guilt of sin but has delivered us from its penalty and power. Therefore, in thanksgiving, we worship, serve and obey the Lord. We do not do it to gain His favor because we already have His favor. The driving force for how we live and the incentive for our worship, service and obedience is not what He will do for us but gratitude for what He has already done for us. Paul begins his instruction for personal evangelism by writing, "Devote yourself to prayer, keeping alert in it with an attitude of thanksgiving." The point is clear. The motivation to share Christ flows from a life that is thankful that one already has Christ. As believers, we have so much for which to be thankful. May it be all the incentive we need to worship, serve and obey our Lord. Be encouraged!
