encouragement side

“from the same mouth comes both blessing and cursing...”

-James 3:10

With the tongue, it is easy to boast of our ability, possessions and accomplishments. With the tongue comes lying, slander, and gossip. On the other hand, the tongue can be a source of blessing, encouragement to others and praise and worship of God. Throughout Scripture, we are warned about the evil of the tongue, where it is described as boastful, deceitful, hypocritical, perverse, set on fire by hell, and a deadly poison. James tells us no man can tame the tongue. This is true because no one, on his own, can tame his tongue fully and adequately to keep from hurting others and to be pleasing to God. But, there is One who can. Therefore, “…be strong in the Lord, and in the strength of His might” so that you may “keep your tongue from evil”. Be encouraged!
