"For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is a gift of God"...
- Ephesians 2:8
The visible church is often characterized by a lack of love, forgiveness and humility resulting in strife and divisions. Are we not saved by grace? Grace is the great equalizer that strips the true believer of the self-righteousness that leads to the above vices. Grace is a reminder that all that we are and have in Christ is unmerited and undeserved. It is a gift of God to all who believe. Christ came into this world “full of grace and truth”. Are we not a “letter of Christ known and read by all men?” Therefore, “be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving each other, just as God in Christ also has forgiven you.” The believer needs to live this, and the unbeliever needs to see this!
