"Then we shall not turn back from Thee; revive us, and we will call upon Thy name."

-Psalm 80: 18

I have been hearing people say they want the coronavirus to pass so we can get back to normal. I have even said the same. However, do we want to go through a national emergency due to the virus and just return to normal? We live in a great nation, but overall, it has turned away from God. Do we want to return to normal in a nation that takes the life of the unborn, celebrates perversion, changes what God has ordained as marriage, along with a growing consensus that government should be our provider and god? Do we want to return to normal when many of our churches are like Sardis “that you have a name that you are alive, and you are dead?” Or, churches who claim faithfulness to God who only give lip service to the Gospel and have made idols out of numbers, money, buildings, celebrity preachers and their particular brand of theology. Why go through a life-threatening pandemic just to return to normal? Do we not read over and over in Scripture where God uses adversity, disasters, and judgment to turn a nation back and to revive his people? Only God can turn this nation back to Him and revive His people out of spiritual deadness into life. Therefore, “O, give thanks to the Lord, call upon his name … In the day of my trouble, I shall call upon Thee, for Thou wilt answer me.” Be encouraged! Be encouraged to pray that we will not return to normal.
