Is mankind created in the image of God of more value than animal life? Apparently, not for many Americans. For the first time in our history, it is now reported that there are more dogs (76 million) than children (73 million). The number of dogs continues to increase as the number of children continues to decline. In places like San Francisco and New York, there are restaurants that have special menus for dogs. Meals range from $25 to $75. Along with a steak, you can order a rose-shaped pastry made with antelope heart, a $5 pupsicle and wash it down with a non-alcoholic “pooch hooch.” There are a growing number of young marrieds who have decided not to have children because they believe that children will contribute to climate change. But we know from the beginning the Lord commanded man to "be fruitful and multiply, and fill the earth..." The psalmist tells us, "children are a gift of the Lord; The fruit of the womb is a reward." Children are the Lord's blessing bestowed upon us, and the blessing extends to those who see their "children's children." So, enjoy your dog, but be blessed by God with children and grandchildren. Be encouraged!
