Harmony
Psychology Today defines harmony as "a core aspect of mental health, integrating individuality with interconnectedness" and "it is seen as a “golden thread” through all aspects of well-being."
Harmony isn't about avoiding differences; it comes from honoring ourselves while making space for another's truth. It requires a respect for diversity, a remembering that diversity is key to a sense of wholeness - in ourselves and in the world. It is what we are being called to create.
Honest reflection and a willingness to truly listen can begin to mend what has been strained. You can make a fresh start, starting with yourself and then with others.
Today's New Moon energy invites you to set intentions for balanced relationships, authentic communication, and renewed creativity. It is a good time to create dialogue, apologize, or simply reach out.
October's intuitive energy asks you to listen to what your heart and perhaps something just beyond the ordinary may be showing you. It is the right time to choose love.
CYWY's offerings this week support harmony—within yourself, with others, in the USA, and in the world.
CYWY is your place to learn, be supported, and practice—a place to navigate towards harmony. It is time. Do you feel it?

Creativity Challenge Starts Tomorrow!!
100 days October 11th through December 11th
Creativity is the imaginative force that fuels new ideas, solutions, and ways of improving people’s futures. It certainly supports this week's theme of harmony - we can use creativity to cultivate it.
It includes:
▪ Inspiration and imagination — the ability to envision possibilities beyond the status quo.
▪ Experimentation — trying new approaches, learning from failure, and iterating.

What is included in the Challenge?
The Challenge runs through the holiday season. Each week you will receive, via the Signal App, an inspirational prompt. Each prompt encourages creative thinking and experimentation.
The first prompt asks you: Do you think you are not creative?

Hosted on Signal, all participants are encouraged to share on the App, how creativity showed up for them. It isn't mandatory; it is simply fun!! Last year we all finished the challenge very inspired and open to possibilities.

Intentional Living Circle
Tues, 10/13, 7-9 PM MST
A Vision for the Future
What do you want your life to look like in the coming years? Explore the life you want and what you can begin doing now to move toward the life you envision.
Facilitated by Sophia Carmien, Essential Wholeness
In this Intentional Living Circle, you’ll create space to imagine the future you want and explore what it might take to move toward it. You’ll step back and consider the bigger picture of the life you want to create. What are you drawn toward? What possibilities do you see for yourself? What would make your life feel meaningful and fulfilling?
From there, we’ll turn our attention to the present. What choices, changes, or actions could begin moving you in that direction? What can you do now, even in small ways, to start creating the future you envision?

Alignment Practice
Topic: Remain
Hosted by Anca Kuns, Beyond Orion
Thurs, 10/15, 6:30 PM MST (1hr)
Anca shares…
Last week I talked about the difference we sometimes miss between intervention and relationship. And that idea seems to be rolling into this week… except much more inner focused. Self-centering.
I notice how easily another person's experience can become movement in me. I notice the movement toward them.
Even though it's coming from my perception, it's still very much based on some type of judgment, justification, rationalization around the other—maybe more gently put, it's still my interpretation of what I see in another.
In the last letter, one of the questions was: Can I encounter what is here?
This week, "can I" took a completely different turn. Truly—can I stand in the presence of someone and be with what's here?
It might become slippery and evasive when that someone is standing physically in front of me and suffering in one way or another—let's take that as an example—and I don't make it about me, even in my interpretative thought looping.
Can we stay with the difference between compassion and empathy? Me and them? Helping and rescuing?
That "can I" is not a desire—it's not something I can simply choose. I can intend and want it, but the moments simply roll into each other and I don't even notice how uncomfortable I am with pain, with lack, with "I can't"—and flipping it into rescue feels much more expansive.
Ah… that short stagnation moment passed, and now "the energy is flowing yet again."
And which energy would that be?
Either way, we've explored ourselves in the ways I've mentioned, and now I'm curious about another way:
Can I remain when nothing in me knows how to make this better?
What happens then?
That's the Self-Relationship Practice we are exploring this month: REMAIN.

Empowered Living Book Update
Big thanks to Joanne Taylor, who has been generously and thoroughly sharing edit suggestions. I deeply appreciate her honesty and keen eye.
I also want to thank Nancy Houser-Bluhm for her referral to her cover artist, Steve Novak. It takes a village! He created a great cover and back for the wire bound format. This week I am sharing the back of the book.
The next step is an ISBN and copyright, then dolling out the funds to print.
Watch for more details and the opportunity to pre-order. Choosing to purchase the printed copy will make diving into all the exercises in the book easy. It will also make it easy to tab pages you want to return to.
The book will remain free in PDF form too.

Three Essential Forces for a Well-Lived Life
An exploration of the Enneagram instincts
Sophia shares, "Have you ever understood something intellectually, but found that understanding it didn't necessarily change anything?
This is something I've been thinking about in my own work with the Enneagram. We can learn about our instincts, recognize our patterns, and understand where we might be out of balance, but lasting change can still be hard. Knowing something about ourselves doesn't necessarily mean we know how to work with it.
That's part of what led me to create Three Essential Forces for a Well-Lived Life.
What if you could actually feel the instincts?
In this three-hour online workshop, we'll explore the three instincts not just as ideas or personality categories, but as fundamental forces that can be experienced in the body.
I'll guide you in exploring what each instinct feels like somatically and what you can learn from paying attention to those physical sensations. Our bodies can give us information that isn't always available through thinking alone. Developing a visceral connection with these forces can help us recognize them as they are happening and give us another way to work with our patterns.
We'll also look at what makes change difficult and explore practical ways to work with what gets in the way. This includes getting specific about what actually needs to shift, learning how to work with resistance, and developing greater access to the wisdom each instinct has to offer.
My hope is that you leave with more than a better understanding of the instincts and how they work in you. I want you to have a felt experience of them, a clearer sense of how they operate in your own life, and some practical ways to work with the patterns that keep you from fully accessing what each has to offer.
Sunday, October 18 | 12:30-3:30 pm MST
Online
Early-bird price: $45 through September 23
Regular price: $65

If you've worked with the Enneagram before, this is an opportunity to explore the instincts from a deeper, more experiential perspective. If you're newer to the Enneagram, no problem! You don't need prior knowledge of the system for us to explore these three fundamental forces together.
I hope you'll join me.
Warmly,
Sophia
