“Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature; the old things passed away; behold new things have come.”
-2 Corinthians 5:17
Several years ago I told a group of Native American pastors that the problem on the Reservation was not the absence of the gospel but the absence of changed lives. Could we not say the same all across America? Jonathan Edwards, describing America’s Great Awakening, wrote that the people began to show signs of radically changed lives with a renewed hunger for the Word, they put aside their sinful entertainments and hardly had a conversation without speaking of Christ. With changed lives, a fervor for God and His Word began to spread across America. What a privilege we have today to be lights shining in darkness. With a changed life and a renewed hunger in our hearts for His Word perhaps God will use you to awaken America once again. Therefore “put on the new self, which in the likeness of God has been created in righteousness and holiness of the truth.” Let us spread our excitement about Christ and His word with others and be encouraged!
