"Fear not, daughter of Zion; behold, your King comes sitting on a donkey’s colt."

- John 12:15

Foretold by Zechariah five hundred years before, Jesus came into Jerusalem on this day riding on a donkey. Even though He is the King of Kings, He did not approach Jerusalem mounted on a horse as a king, signifying that His kingdom was not of this world. The people of Israel wanted a king to deliver them from the bondage of the Romans, but He came to conquer Satan, sin and death and to set His people free. Throughout His ministry, the Lord did not court public or popular attention, but He allowed it on this day. Perhaps He wanted all to see how popularity is so fickle. This week, “Hosanna!” but next week, “Crucify Him!” The huge (vast) crowd caused the Pharisees to say, “look, the world has gone after Him.” He had shunned such attention while feeding the hungry, healing the sick and raising the dead. Perhaps He allowed it now because this was something the world needed to see that His time had come and through the cross, He would be the Savior of world. Certainly, this is the one thing the whole world needs to see today. What a blessing that they might see this in us as Christ lives out His life in our lives and we make Him known to the world in which we live. Be encouraged!
