"Instead, you ought to say, if the Lord wills, we shall live and also do this and that"
- James 4:15
Plans concerning our future can be made with complete confidence or utter uncertainty. To make plans without considering the will of the Lord is an act of self-sufficiency. I fear there are too many believers who live as if God did not exist when it comes to making a significant number of their decisions. Where is God in choosing school, career, friends, or mate for life? Where is God in purchasing a car, home, or a retirement plan? We need to include the Lord and seek His will in all of our decisions because only he knows our future. Life can change suddenly and unexpectedly in the split second of an accident, a routine doctor's visit or notice of unemployment. In reality, we have no guarantee of tomorrow or even an hour from now. But, be reminded that we have a Lord whose will is to love us and desire what is best for us. So "in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths." Be encouraged!
