"Behold, the tabernacle of God is among men, and He shall dwell among them, and they shall be His people..."
-Revelation 21:3
It has always been God's desire and plan to dwell among men. However, His communion with Adam and Eve in the garden was ruined by sin. He chose Israel and tabernacled among them, but they turned to idols, and Ezekiel saw the glory of God depart. Finally, in His great love for mankind He sent his only begotten Son who “came to His own, and those who were his own did not receive Him." Instead, they gave Him a cross. But God’s plan will not be thwarted, for He will prevail. In eternity, all those who have come to Christ in saving faith will dwell in the presence of God. We do not know everything that lies ahead, but we can know with certainty that He shall dwell among us, and we shall be His people, for God Himself will be among us. No wonder John, in his final message penned the words, “Amen, Come, Lord Jesus." As we look forward to that day, may this be an incentive to each of you to "draw near to God and He will draw near to you." Be encouraged!
