"Hence, also, He is able to save forever those who draw near to God through Him, since he always lives to make intercession for them."

-Hebrews 7:25

Where would we be daily without Christ? The Lord Jesus and his salvation is not a one-day fix or just a ticket to heaven. As believers, we already have eternal life, and our citizenship is in heaven, but because of our daily sins, we are constantly in need of Him. The hymn writer expressed it well with the lyrics, “I need Thee, O, I need Thee; Every hour I need Thee!” It is true that “we were reconciled to God through the death of his Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by his life." Jesus is alive, seated at the right hand of God, and is continually interceding for us. Therefore, when we sin, “we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.” The intercessory prayer of John 17, which Christ prayed for his own, is still being carried on in heaven. McCheyne understood this when he said, “If I could hear Christ praying for me in the next room, I would not fear a million enemies. Yet, the distance makes no difference - he's praying for me.” Be encouraged!
