"For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost."
- Luke 19:10
Following the 2016 presidential election, it was said that the Democrats lost, in part, because they did not get out of Washington and into the Rust Belt and seek out the people. With all of the reports about Christianity losing ground in America, is the church experiencing the same problem? Recent surveys point out that 60% of Americans believe all will go to heaven, around 50% reject the biblical account of creation and a record low 24% believe the Bible is the actual word of God to be taken literally, word for word. The guest pastor at our men’s breakfast this week said the majority of Christians will give money to increase the size of a facility and numerical growth but will never give of themselves to seek and to save the lost. Paul chastised the Judaizers because they wanted to look successful through numerical growth when the greater concern was for the salvation of those who were lost. As believers, we are to be followers of Christ. As followers of Him, shouldn’t our priority be to seek and to save the lost? What a wonderful promise He has made, “Follow Me, and I will make you fishers of men.” Be encouraged!
