“...I came that they might have life, and might have it abundantly.”
- John 10:10
When actor, George Clooney, was asked about obtaining happiness in this life, he responded, “I don’t believe in happy endings, but I do believe in happy travels, because ultimately, you die at a very young age, or you live long enough to watch your friends die. It’s a mean thing, life.” Many see Clooney as the man who has it all, but does he? It is apparent he does not have the hope that comes through knowing Christ, or the joy of the indwelling Holy Spirit or the faith that comes from the Word of God. His happy travels must come from what he experiences in the world, in the here and now. And yes, life can be mean. It was mean to Christ, His disciples and multitudes since. But regardless of the hardships of life, “in all these things we overwhelmingly conquer through Him who loved us.” In Christ, our faith, hope and joy rise above all the circumstances of life. This is the abundant life that has a happy ending. Be encouraged!
