"...the Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation..."
-2 Peter 2:9
No one is alone in temptation, for it is common to all mankind. But the responsibility to not yield to temptation falls on the individual because "each one is tempted when he is carried away and enticed by his own lust." It is "the lust of the flesh and the lust of the eyes and the boastful pride of life" that does us in. In our present society, we are encouraged to blame someone or something else for the temptations we face. But it has been said, "we have met the enemy, and he is us." Or, it might be said, "we all have problems, but we are the problem." The answer to our problems is beyond ourselves. Therefore, we read in Scripture, "No temptation has overtaken you but such as is common to man; and God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will provide the way of escape also, that you may be able to endure it." Praise God that in His faithfulness, He provides the power to rescue you from temptation and sin. Be encouraged!
