"I am the light of the world..."

-John 8:12

While in Dallas last week, we were able to see the total eclipse of the sun. It went dark enough for the stars to shine, streetlights to come on, and the temperature to drop. However, just as soon as a tiny sliver of sun reappeared, it was as if there was no eclipse at all. It revealed the intensity and blinding brightness of the sun. We know from the Bible that the one who created the sun will someday replace the sun as the light of the world. The one who “dwells in unapproachable light; whom no man has seen or can see.” As I stood in the city, I was reminded that a holy city will come down from heaven having great brilliance and the full glory of God; "And the city has no need of the sun or the of the moon to shine upon it, for the glory of God will illumine it, and its lamp is the Lamb" of God. For we read in Scripture, "And there shall no longer be any night; and they shall not have any need of the light of a lamp nor the light of the sun, because the Lord God shall illumine them, and they shall reign forever and ever.” Great and glorious days are ahead for the children of God who have come to Christ alone for salvation. Be encouraged!
