Spoiler ALERT

Attention!! All 3000 PRSA APRs, Ethics Officers, PRSA Committed Members, PRSSA Leaders At All Levels

All APRs To Be Demoted During or Before ICON 2021

The Executive Committee of The PRSA Board of Directors has been working in secret on a momentous by-law change to demote all APRs. If the present draft by-law change [Click Here To See Document] is approved:

• APRs will no longer have preferential treatment for board and committee positions.

• Non APRs, mostly PhDs, apparently, perhaps very special non- members can become eligible, to hold critical positions in our society including on the PRSA Board of Directors through a special Board procedure. The creation of “Uber people,” better than you and me.

• These "Uber" persons, possibly not even PRSA members, skip the APR step and will get in line ahead of more than 3000 active APRs demoted from mandatory placement to just “preferred” status.

Anybody out there care? The clock is running toward ICON 2021 as the turning point. If successful, a very real question arises, "To be an APR or not to be an APR, what's the point?"

Time To Raise Your Hand, Your Voice And Blow The Whistle.

Actions needed now:

1). Chapter presidents, district officers, and ALL APRs demand that the current process is stopped immediately and opened up for society-wide discussion and debate.

2). If this is the will of our society, let’s find out, and then so be it.

3). Establish a process involving nationwide meetings by district in chapter to discuss this concept, do focus groups, objective research, seek to engage all APRs and those who aspire to become APRs. Let’s find out. We know how to do this! This procedure was used before to re-write the PRSA Code in 2000.

What’s the rush to demean and demote thousands of the most active, loyal, and committed PRSA members plus thousands more inactive or retired but still very proud and contributing APRs?

The proponents, people we chose to lead us deny this is a demotion. How would you describe it, "a kiss of betrayal?" How could these leaders be so out of touch (they are planning other major changes as well).

Stop the current effort, make it public and let the chips fall where they may. If you are an APR lots of these chips will fall on your career and your dreams.

But then again maybe it's just me.
