encouragement side

"At one moment I might speak concerning a nation or concerning a kingdom to uproot, to pull down, or to destroy it, if that nation against which I have spoken turns from its evil, I will relent concerning the calamity I plan to bring on it."

-Jeremiah 18:7-8

Many of the Old Testament passages that speak of a nation(s) apply solely to Israel like the often misused 2 Chronicles 7:14. However, Jeremiah 18:7-8 applies to all nations. You may not know why God allowed America to be hit so hard with the coronavirus, but we do know this nation needs to repent. We have become a nation where evil is called good, and good is called evil, with many doing what is “wise in their own eyes.” Being “lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God," the idols of selfism, immorality and materialism reign. Even among churches idolatry abounds, where accommodation strips the gospel of its power, where man-made theology replaces sound doctrine and growth and prosperity are man-centered success. God gives warnings before a nation is brought down. If we do not repent, perhaps the coronavirus is a dress rehearsal of what is to come. What should we do? Like David, we need to cry out to God, “O let the evil of the wicked come to an end, but establish the righteous.” And although “the nations have sunk down in the pit which they have made," do not get discouraged because the Lord is answering prayer. He “hast not forsaken those who seek Him.” Be encouraged!
