"...since Christ also suffered for you..."
- 1 Peter 2:21
Last week during our prayer time, we were overwhelmed by just the number of people we are acquainted with who are suffering. And for many, it is beyond their control. At the end of the prayer time, we were reminded of the unjust suffering of our Lord and Savior. Psalm 22 and Isaiah 53 describes for us the humiliating, violent and painful death of the cross. Unlike us, He could have destroyed His enemies, but instead, for us, He submitted Himself to the agony of death on a cross. In all of our human experiences, no one has ever entered into such suffering and death. Men may suffer greatly and even die violent deaths, but nothing compares to all that Christ endured on the cross when He suffered as a ransom for our sins. Many who face the hardship of life are tempted not to trust the Lord when they need Him most. But, because of what “He has suffered, He is able to come to the aid of those who are tempted” and He can “sympathize with our weaknesses… that we may receive mercy and may find grace to help in time of need.” Be encouraged!
