“The Lord is my light and my salvation.”
-Psalm 27:1
While in Russia, Stefan, my interpreter, and I were on the Metro traveling under Moscow during the rush hour. The car was filled to capacity with all seats and space crammed full. As I was standing, hanging on to the handrail, I looked toward my left and right. I shared my observation with Stefan that everyone in the car was wearing black. Stefan, born and raised in Latvia, once part of the Soviet Union, responded, "It reveals and represents the nature of their darkened hearts." It reminded me why the Christ we celebrate at Christmas came into our world, for He said, "I am the light of the world; he who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but shall have the light of life.” He came “To shine upon those who sit in darkness and the shadow of death...” “To open their eyes so that they may turn from darkness to light and from the dominion of Satan to God, in order that they may receive forgiveness of sins...” We are to be, in Christ, the light of the world. In the midst of all the Christmas lights, may the Christ of your life shine the brightest. Be encouraged!
