"...He called you through our gospel..."

- 2 Thessalonians 2:14

D. Martyn Lloyd-Jones once said, “There is no greater fallacy than to think you need a gospel for special types of people.” His comment was in response to someone who thought a different emphasis on the gospel was needed when speaking to the educated as compared to the common man. Jones rightly saw all men without distinction as “common human clay and miserable sinners” who simply needed the gospel. Today, we have the creation gospel, the felt needs gospel, the therapeutic gospel, the friendship gospel and the Lordship gospel to mention a few. In each case the gospel can become secondary to the human emphasis. But “God is not a God of confusion”. He has given us just one gospel with just one emphasis, “that Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, and that He was buried, and that He was raised on the third day according to the Scriptures…” As Paul told the Galatians, anything different is not really the gospel at all. You have the true gospel, just share it! And as you were called through the gospel, He will call others through the gospel. Be encouraged!
