The Lord of hosts has sworn saying, "Surely, just as I have intended so it has happened, and just as I have planned so it will stand."

The context of this verse is that even the all-powerful Empire of Assyria could not thwart the sovereign control and intent of God concerning all the nations. This is an election year in the United States. It may result in an economic downturn or prosperity. Laws may be enacted to give us greater or lesser personal freedom. The role of government may increase or decrease. But one thing for certain is that no one can thwart the plan of God for the future of this nation. There is no president, king, prime minister, or dictator who can change what God has intended for the nations of this world. Be encouraged. “He’s got the whole world in His hands!”
