"...God our Father who has loved us and given us eternal comfort and good hope by grace."

-2 Thessalonians 2:16

“By grace” means we are receiving something we do not deserve. This is why salvation is a free gift of God that no one deserves or can earn because it is all by grace. When people face disappointment or discouragement, they often seek comfort and relief through human innovation such as medications, drugs, or some form of psychotherapy, hoping to cope with the issues of life. But God has never been interested in coping or some temporal fix for the burdens we carry in life. The gift of God to all who seek refuge in Him is "eternal comfort and good hope." This comfort and hope cannot be diminished by anything in one's present life or throughout eternity. Since our Lord is the "God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our afflictions," He gives us hope far beyond all that we face today. Yes, "God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble," not just for today but forever. Be encouraged!
