"For consider your calling, brethren, that there were not many wise according to the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble."
- 1 Corinthians 1:26
Recently an article revealed that former President Jimmy Carter believes it is most important to have faith in a creator, but it could be Mohammad, Buddha, Jesus or someone else. George W. Bush has stated that we all worship the same God, and of course, Barak Obama holds to the same. The stated theology of these three men who were once considered the most powerful men in the world, is not in any way a demonstration of saving faith. How many movie stars, athletic super stars or CEO’s do you know who demonstrate saving faith by what they claim to believe? You could rightfully ask the same question of well-known religious authorities, authors and celebrity preachers. When the tutor of King James 1 lay dying, his Majesty sent to enquire about him. “Tell my Sovereign,” said the tutor, “that I am going where few kings go.” God did not call you to saving faith on the basis of your wisdom, strength or position. Therefore, “just as it is written, ‘Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord’”. Be encouraged!
