“It is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man.”
- Psalm 118:8
In Ecclesiastes we read, “Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious, while the lips of a fool consume him; the beginning of his talking is folly, and the end of it is wicked madness. Yet the fool multiplies words. No man knows what will happen, and who can tell him what will come after him?” Somehow, these words remind me of the electoral process that is being played out before us. The lack of grace, multiple promises and the uncertainty of how they would lead may be best described as madness. No wonder the psalmist wrote, “Do not trust in princes, in mortal man, in whom there is no salvation “for” it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in princes.” Our Lord came to this earth … “full of grace and truth”. When He spoke they were all “…wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips…” He never got a vote or one delegate and never won an election, but He won the souls of all who would believe in Him. Every promise He made will be fulfilled. Yes, it is better to take refuge in the Lord than to trust in man. Be encouraged!
