"The Lord bless you and keep you..."
- Numbers 6:24
All of us want to be blessed by the Lord in our relationship with Him. As soon as God created man, He blessed him, as it was God’s intention from the beginning to bless those who walk with Him. We know we cannot be blessed by God if we walk in sin. However, we may involve ourselves in something that does not have the Lord’s blessing. Paul wrote. “Therefore, do not let what is for you a good thing be spoken of as evil.” As a new believer I was told not to engage in anything I would be ashamed of if the Lord should come. Perhaps there is something else we should consider. A story is told about an 18th century English pastor who, when invited to another’s house was asked to engage in a game of cards. To the surprise of his host, he asked to pray first to seek the Lord’s will and blessing. The host said he had never heard of such a thing, to which the pastor replied, “Ought we to engage in anything on which we cannot ask God’s blessing?” We certainly want to have the peace and affirmation of God in all that we do. May the Lord bless and keep you. Be encouraged!
