While they are saying, “Peace and safety!” then destruction will come upon them suddenly...

- 1 Thessalonians 5:3

Just last week while in Hanover, Germany, the President of the United States declared that this is the “most peaceful and prosperous time in human history.” His words are not all that convincing when we have to go through a metal detector to board planes, enter a school or go to a ballgame. The claim of peace when there is no peace has long been a part of biblical history. The Lord spoke through Jeremiah and Ezekiel that there are those who are “saying, ‘Peace, peace,’ but there is no peace.” One thing we should believe with great certainty is while world and religious leaders are declaring peace, “…the Son of Man is coming at an hour when you do not think He will.” Jesus said, “Be on the alert then, for you do not know the day or the hour.” Therefore, as believers, we are “fixing our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of faith.” “For God has not destined us for wrath, but for obtaining salvation through our Lord Jesus Christ.” Destruction and judgment will come, but the Lord will deliver us. Be encouraged!
