That, just as it is written, “Let him who boasts, boast in the Lord”.
-1 Corinthians: 1:31
Undoubtedly, we live in a narcissistic age with a “me first” mentality. We can easily be filled with pride concerning who we are and what we do. Power, popularity and recognition reign high in the human heart. Perhaps we need to be reminded that “…we have brought nothing into the world, so we cannot take anything out of it either.” All that we have comes from the Creator’s hand. All that is worthy before Him has been made worthy by His grace. The Lord spoke to Jeremiah and said, “Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; but let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises lovingkindness, justice, and righteousness on earth; for I delight in these things...”
I’d rather have Jesus than men’s applause;
I’d rather be faithful to His dear cause;
I’d rather have Jesus than world-wide fame,
I’d rather be true to His holy name.
“In God we have boasted all day long, And we will give thanks to Thy name forever.” Be encouraged!
