Workshop Content:
SIX WEEKS - This workshop consists of four 2-hour modules of content covered over four weeks. Two additional 2-hour sessions will be scheduled in weeks 5-6 for group break-out work sessions and individual organization presentations designed to help attendees fine tune their appeals.
Each attendee will be tasked with reviewing the list of relevant grants, sample appeals and resource information ahead of each work session and completing the requisite worksheets by the end of the workshop.
Module I. Organizational Readiness

• Determine Your Fund Development Opportunity Types
• Organize Board, Team and Volunteer Engagement
• Create and Promote a Compelling Brand Identity
• Compile Organizational Descriptions, Budgets and Documents
Module II. Meet Opportunities with Preparation
Sessions:
• Conduct Industry and Issue Research
• Implement Grant and Donor Prospecting
• Know the Funding Source Intent and Requirements
• Organize Appeal Content Outlines and Checklist
Module III. Appeal Formation
Sessions:
• Correlate Program and Project Information with the Appeal Purpose
• Create Partnership and Lead Agency MOUs
• Structure the Ask to Align with the Opportunity
• Develop Logic Model Concepts for Outcome Measurement
Module IV. Grant and Donor Management
Sessions:
• Know Reporting and Compliance Requirements
• Create Funder and Donor Engagement Strategies
• Select Donor Management and Engagement Software Solutions
• Develop Strategies to Scale Your Ask
Module V. Group Work Sessions and Presentations
Sessions:
This module will include two 2-hour breakout sessions scheduled in weeks 5-6 with UDC team members and each attendee organization to review the final draft of the grants appeals created during this workshop. The work sessions will also include peer-to-peer review and presentations.
