"...The Lord knows how to rescue the godly from temptation.”

-2 Peter 2:9

We know that “God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able.” Bonar writes, “He meant you to feel the stress and weight of the trial, but he never meant you to be crushed under it. There is majesty here… He will not allow Satan to tempt you too much.” The above reflects the balance that God brings to the Christian life. We have weaknesses, but we also have strength in the Lord. We face sorrow, but we also experience great joy. We face opposition from the world, while in Christ, we are overcomers of the world. We suffer criticism and accusation, but it builds our faith in the One who suffered more. Many may condemn us, but there is no condemnation for us who are in Christ Jesus. We know the appeal of sin, but the Word convicts us that it is a passing pleasure. We war with our flesh but find strength in the Spirit. While death awaits us, we, by faith, know it cannot separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. God does not dismiss all the trials and temptations we face, but His grace is sufficient for us, and His power is perfected in our weakness. For we who have been saved and called to a godly life, He sets off every negative with a positive. Be encouraged!
