"Who among you is wise and understanding?"

- James 3:13

James answers the question by saying it is determined by one’s behavior. Jealousy, selfishness, arrogance, and untruthfulness demonstrate a lack of true wisdom. It is described as earthly (fallen humanity), natural (depraved mental and emotional impulses), and demonic (proceeding from an evil influence). The wise and understanding have wisdom from above (proceeding from God) with the overriding characteristic of being peaceable. We should know that it is only the wisdom of God that can bring peace between God and man and among mankind. “We have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ.” “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called the sons of God.” So be wise, be at peace, and be blessed! Be encouraged!
