"You are witnesses of these things"

Witnessing is not an option for followers of Christ. Not all are called to preach, but all are called to speak. Witnessing is not speaking about your church and the activities it provides or stressing theological points or positions. "These things" refers solely to the death, burial, and resurrection of Christ for the forgiveness of sins (Luke24:46-47), which is to be proclaimed to "all the nations." How one lives his new life in Christ is important, but the Bible calls for the verbalization of the gospel. Yet, witnessing has never been easy. It is no coincidence that the English word "martyr" comes from the Greek word for "witness." But we are not alone in this. He has given us the Holy Spirit, and we have the strength of the Lord to speak "these things." Be encouraged. Speak up for Him!
