Hello,
As we prepare for an exciting 4th of July holiday weekend, I hope you'll invite your child/grandchild/niece/nephew to join us for a "BIG Bang Good Time" this Saturday morning, as we feature Dr. Felix Vega, a Veterinarian (surgeon and specialist with exotic birds), and Inventor with 15 patents, from San Francisco, CA.
With participant youth and veterinarians from Switzerland, Houston, TX, San Francisco, CA, Brooklyn, NY, Los Angeles, CA, Uganda, Africa, Hattieville, AR and Paris, France, just to name a few, your young person can also become one of these young global participants, while meeting youth from all over the world.
Offering age-appropriate sessions and activities, our Youth Veterinarian Initiative (YVI) is designed for young people that are interested in exploring veterinary science and/or STEM/STEAM learning. STEM is Science, Technology Engineering and Math, and the "A" in STEAM is for the Arts. Or, your child might want to join us, because they just love animals.
Even though YVI is for "ALL Youth", studies reveal that minorities are being left behind in the science fields. It's reported that 61% of Black students state they're not considering a career in the sciences. For Hispanic youth, only 42% say they would consider a career in these fields. The major reason is they feel they’re not good at school subjects relating to these disciplines. Based on this data, YVI’s objective is to provide early access and exposure to increase all youth's interest in STEM/STEAM -- as we make science fun and interesting for budding young minds.
Featuring veterinarians and speakers from all over the world, our last guest speaker was my collaborative partner, Dr. Monique Y. Wells, a Vet Pathologist out of Paris, France.
Our next YVI session with Dr. Vega, is scheduled for this Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 8a PT: 9a MT: 10a CT: 11a ET (check your time zone).
Register in advance for this meeting HERE.
After registering, you will receive a confirmation email containing information about joining the meeting.
Felix Vega's Short Bio: Dr. Vega completed his undergraduate work at the University of California at Davis and received his doctorate in Veterinary Medicine and Surgery from the University of Pennsylvania. During a decade of private practice, his emphasis was in the medicine and surgery of exotic animals. He is co-inventor on 15 patents and has authored numerous scientific publications and presentations. He serves as an Industry Advisor to the Biomedical Engineering Program at San José State University, where he is a guest lecturer.
Below I've provided a calendar revealing scheduled dates for July - please mark your calendars.
Me and my collaborative partner, Monique Wells with the Wells International Foundation, are looking forward to you joining us.
Until then, love an animal today and you’ll have a much brighter tomorrow!
