"Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who according to His great mercy has caused us to be born again to a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead."
-1 Peter 1:3
The hope that Peter refers to here is not an empty, deceptive, or false hope that so many have embraced, even among those who have some identity with Christianity. In the New Testament, “hope” is always in the positive, referring to the future based upon the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Without the resurrection, there is no true hope, as made clear by the apostle Paul in 1 Corinthians 15. In fact, there would be no salvation, church, or Christianity if death had conquered Christ; the One who lives gives us a “living hope” as God imparts His life into our life in the new birth. The world is moving away from God, but we should not move away from hope. “Our hope is anchored in the past: Jesus arose! Our hope remains in the present: Jesus lives! Our hope is completed in the future: Jesus is coming!” Be encouraged!
