"...the Lord is full of compassion and is merciful."

- James 5:11

Such great words of encouragement, especially since they are given in the context of the suffering of Job and the prophets. All of us, as believers, must resist the tendency to react like the world when we face the adversity that often comes from a fallen world. James confirms that the outcome belongs to the Lord, who is “full of compassion and is merciful”. God is not cold hearted. He does not enjoy the afflictions that come upon those whom He calls His own. Certainly His compassion and mercy is greater than our sin, and the troubles we face because of the sin of others. “The Lord’s lovingkindnesses indeed never cease. For His compassions never fail". That was true for Job and the prophets, and it’s just as true today for you. Be encouraged!
