"...There is only One who is good..."

- Matthew 19:17

William Paul Young, the author of The Shack, reveals in his latest book that man is basically good and has no need to accept Christ as his Savior. He writes, “Remember, God cannot become anything that is evil or inherently bad… and God became human”. Therefore, he concludes that man has to be good. He also writes, “God does not wait for my choice and then save me. God has acted decisively and universally for all humankind”. In summary, according to Young, telling someone that his human goodness is not acceptable to God and that one must place his faith in Christ to be saved are Lies We Believe About God. God did become a man yet He was far different from man in that He “knew no sin.” The truth of the Bible is that only God is perfectly good, and compared to God no one is good. We are all sinners in need of a Savior and only by placing our faith in Jesus Christ can we be saved from our sin. It is necessary for all not to trust in what they see as their own goodness and as sinners come to Christ for salvation. For those like Young who trust in their human goodness, their future is not really good. For those who by faith accept Christ as their Savior, their future is absolutely good. Be encouraged!
