"...who gave Himself as a ransom for all..."

-1 Timothy 2: 6

When a presidential candidate was asked what his health care and education plan would cost, he responded, “nobody knows. This is impossible to predict.” Some analysts have estimated the cost at $60 trillion over 10 years. Regardless of that, the CBD predicts the federal budget deficit will be $1 trillion a year for the foreseeable future. As staggering as the figures are, the national debt has no comparison with the debt of sin. All the money in the world could not pay off the debt of sin. All the money in the world could not pay off even one sin. The wonderful truth for us is that the debt for sin is already paid. We know, “…He Himself is the propitiation for our sins; and not only ours, but also for those of the whole world.” For “He… having forgiven us of all our transgressions, having canceled out the certificate of debt... having nailed it to the cross.” For “you are not redeemed with perishable things like silver or gold from your futile way of life ... but with precious blood… the blood of Christ.” Only Christ with His work on the cross can, and did, remove the debt of sin. In the words of the Psalmist, “Thou hast ransomed me, O Lord, God of truth.” Be encouraged!
