"I lie awake, I have become like a lonely bird on a housetop."

- Psalm 102:7

It was recently reported that the use of anti-depressants has increased 65%, to the point that one of every six women and one of every twelve men are on anti-depressant medications. Troubles can become overwhelming leading to anxiety, depression and loneliness. You can become like the psalmist with a loss of appetite, lack of sleep and as “lonely as a bird on a housetop.” You may feel “there is no escape for me; no one cares for my soul”, so where can I turn? Too often, even within the church, people turn to therapy, medications or some other hopeful solution not supported by Scripture. The British seem to think that the government is the answer. A British government commission has determined that loneliness is as harmful to your health as smoking fifteen cigarettes a day. Therefore, British Prime Minister, Theresa May, announced a new government position entitled the Minister of Loneliness. Christians have their own Minster of Loneliness. His name is Jesus! As it is written, “casting all your care upon Him, for He careth for you.” Be encouraged!
