encouragement side

"I came that they might have life and have it more abundantly."

- John 10:10

With the latest school shooting, the governor of Kentucky said, “We can’t celebrate death in video games, celebrate death in TV shows, celebrate death in musical lyrics and remove any sense of morality and sense of higher authority and then expect that things like this are not going to happen.” The Washington Post reported that “Hollywood kept itself afloat in 2017 with super hero and horror films.” More killing. To buy into the killing culture and attempt to bring your children up in the “discipline and instruction of the Lord” is like mixing oil with water. Can we expect children who spend hours immersed in the culture of death and destruction to follow the One who offers life? When video games, TV and movies become the live-in babysitters, are we surprised when they can sing the latest lyrics but struggle to quote a verse? The psalmist wrote, “How can a young man keep his way pure? By keeping it according to Thy word… Thy word I have treasured in my heart that I may not sin against Thee.” God, in His wisdom and grace, has given us exactly what we need so that neither we nor our children are consumed by the culture of sin and death. Be encouraged!
