"...greater is He that is in you than he that is in the world."
- 1 John 4:4
Recently, while in Southern California, the Los Angeles City Council voted to no longer recognize Columbus Day which is a federal holiday. One commissioner basically apologized for the existence of the United States of America. Another said Columbus led the way to one of the greatest genocides in history. To them, Columbus is no longer an important historical figure in America’s past but was placed in the same category as Stalin, Hitler and Idi Amin. They call this political correctness, but in reality this is the epitome of deceit. Satan is the great deceiver, “the god of this world” who “has blinded the minds of the unbelieving…” Since they are blinded to biblical truth and in this case historical truth also, they are among the many who call evil good and good evil, doing what is right in their own eyes. How can you escape such deception? It all comes down to one word – TRUTH! First, you must know the One who said, “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.” Second, you must know His word, for Jesus said, “Thy word is truth.” Third, you must be filled with the Holy Spirit who is the teacher of truth. Satan, the great deceiver, may be the god of this world but with Christ living out His life in your life by His word and the Spirit, you can rest assured that greater is He (Christ) who is in you than he (Satan) who is in the world. Be encouraged!
