This month we would like to spotlight Chip Laber-Kirst, who recently took our online course, Savvy Cosmetologist Small Business Development Series.
Chip is originally from the greater Cincinnati area. He worked at Matt Bradley Salon (one of the area’s premiere salons) as a stylist/employee for 14 years. Due to his Husband’s job transfer, Chip was faced with the challenge of starting his career over in Michigan. He continued in the same route as an employee. After two years he and a coworker took a leap of faith and opened Westnedge Hill Salon, a five station Boutique Style Studio.
It was pretty scary at first. But in a short period of time the salon was a huge success thanks to a good business partner, professional accountant, and Chip’s Husband (a brand marketing specialist).
Fast forward 7-1/2 years to now. Chip’s Husband has a new assignment. But this time back home in Cincinnati. Chip is investing in an individual suite. “Ten years ago I would’ve never considered this an option, but based on my knowledge, skills and abilities, I’m ready for this challenge. Thanks to social media, I’m confident I’ll be up and running with former and new clients.” Stated Chip.
