“Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations...”
- Matthew 28:19
As young believers excited about the Lord, a friend of mine and I went to the church board to tell them we would like to follow up on church visitors and have a ministry of knocking on doors to share the gospel. We received their blessing but not one of them offered to join us. Hudson Taylor, the great missionary to China had the same experience when he tried to convince church boards to join him in taking the gospel to China. “The Christian leaders he met nearly always gave the young missionary a sympathetic hearing. But it soon became evident that none of the boards were willing to assume the incredible challenge of evangelizing a country that contained half the non-Christian population of the entire world.” Nothing has changed. The church today determines success by the number of buildings, staff, people and programs. In other words, their expertise is keeping people in their comfort zone while millions go to hell. Taylor, making that observation, walked out of the church and headed for China. When Jesus gave the Great Commission, He said, “…and lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age.” In witnessing, you are never alone and sometimes you have only the One you really need. Be encouraged!
