"...the Lord has promised..."
- James 1:12
Too often we forget there is a reward for enduring the temptations and trials of this life. First, the reward is that we are blessed in this present life. Enduring the onslaughts that come from Satan, the World, and the flesh brings an inner assurance and confidence the Lord is with us. Secondly, the believer who loves the Lord is blessed knowing he will receive the crown of life. “And though you have not seen Him, you love Him, and though you do not see Him now, but believe in Him, you greatly rejoice with joy inexpressible and full of glory”.
The crown of life refers to life itself – eternal life. James is not encouraging us to earn the crown but to live out our salvation as believers who love the Lord. So be encouraged for “this is the promise which He Himself made to us: eternal life”.
