"Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel."
-Isaiah 7:14
Isaiah, as we today, lived in very turbulent times. Judah, much like our nation, had turned her back on God. In response to the prosperity He provided, her heart turned to greed. She took her freedom from aggressors as a license to sin. Her leaders were self-absorbed, motivated by corruption, and taking away the rights of the common man. But in the midst of the warnings and impending judgment, God gave a promise. The promise was Immanuel, “which translated means, “God with us.” And yes, they would “call His name Jesus, for it is He who will save His people from their sins." Are you a believer? Be encouraged! The hope that we have in the Christ of Christmas far outshines the turbulent times in which we live.
