"Serve the Lord with gladness..."

- Psalm 100:2

To serve the Lord is one of the greatest blessings and privileges of the Christian life. Jesus, Himself, set the example when He said, “The Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and give His life a ransom for many.” The Thessalonians were well known among European believers because they had “turned to God from idols to serve a living and true God.” The promise of God is “…if anyone serves Me, the Father will honor him.” The command of God is, “You shall worship the Lord God and serve Him only”. William Carey, known as the father of modern missions, served the Lord in India for many years. He had a son named Felix who had planned to follow in his father’s footsteps. However, he could not resist being appointed by the Queen of England to serve as the ambassador to Burma. Carey wrote these words to a friend, “Pray for Felix. He has degenerated into an ambassador for the British government when he should be serving the King of Kings.” Serve the Lord with gladness! You are serving the “King of Kings! Be encouraged!
