"Rejoice in the Lord..."
-Philippians 4:4
As we are into this new year, if we focus upon the present condition of our nation and the world, if we focus upon our own struggle with sin or the opposition we face in living for Christ we can easily lose our joy. Sin is a “passing pleasure” and this year will offer many enticements to find our joy in what God forbids. However, the chief end of man is to glorify God and enjoy Him forever so our joy rests not in our circumstances but in knowing Him. Neither does it rest in just enjoying the benefits of salvation which are great and many, but in the greater benefit of knowing Him. In the words of David, “In Thy presence is fulness of joy; In Thy right hand there are pleasures forever.” This is the real and final destination of all who have been redeemed by Him. Be encouraged!
