"Jesus therefore perceiving that they were intending to come and take Him by force, to make Him king, withdrew again to the mountain by Himself alone."
-John 6:15
Few refuse popularity when offered to them as Christ did when both the devil and men tempted him. We live in a day of "celebrity Christianity" when kingdoms are built at the expense of the Kingdom, a day when we can be known as followers of particular men or ministries rather than of Christ, a day when church websites exalt men, past or present, more than Christ, a day when the Lord is reduced to simply being famous rather than "I am God, and there is no one like Me." We can be thankful that Jesus came not "to be served but to serve, and to give His life a ransom for many." Although a King, He came not to be a celebrity, but "to seek and to save that which was lost." May we all be encouraged to do the same!
