February 2018

Welcome to the February edition of Executive Action: Urgent Information from a Trusted Strategic Advisor. You will be receiving this just after the Super Bowl. Yes, it was held in Minnesota, for the second time. The first time was in the Metrodome in 1992. Yes, it was very cold by most standards. Hope the team you supported was the victor. I was kind of partial to New England since Tom Brady grew up in Minnesota and said wonderful things about the state and the time he spent here.

As always, please share the ideas and concepts in this newsletter with the people in your network.

Here’s a preview:

Lukaszewski (me) Is Named A “2018 Top Thought Leader in Trust” by Trust Across America - This is the third time Jim has been awarded this designation.

The Trusted Strategic Advisor’s Manifesto Parts 7 & 8: The 7 Tests You’ll Have to Pass That Demonstrate You Have Become a Trusted Strategic Advisor; and, Tough questions to ask yourself about being a trusted strategic advisor i.e. Do You have the Stomach for the Stress and Intensity that a Trusted Strategic Advisor Needs to Succeed?

“A Word with Your Boss, Please…” The conversation I would have with your boss about the critical importance of readiness for crisis or emergency situations, avoiding career defining moments (his or hers).

People Are Talking… “You’re the best and don’t you forget it…” Kind words from a Lukaszewski disciple.

Confidential, Critical Executive Coaching: More critical than ever; way too much focus on media; leadership needs to dominate the coaching.

If I could speak to the chief executive of your company or organization about the importance of readiness for crisis or emergency, we would discuss just a few career preserving subjects, and the conversation would take only a few minutes. The PR phrase, “Crisis Management” would never be mentioned since almost none of the clients I’ve worked for ever believed they would have a crisis, much less preparing to manage one. When we talk readiness, it’s a whole different conversation, one which leaders and managers understand. Here is the outline of that conversation:

“You are the best and don’t you forget it. Your target audience is the 5% that understands your message and are willing to engage you now as part of a long term proactive strategy. If more organizations and individuals would only realize your benefits, workplaces and governments would not be in the state of confusion we’re in. Many are in a state of denial. But hang in there my friend. Give ‘em heaven.” - Lukaszewski Disciple

Confidential, Critical Executive Coaching

image1

This special training is designed for senior operating executives and those who coach and advise them to prepare them for their public communication responsibilities in the media, before government bodies, testimony, employee, stock holder, analyst or other crucial meetings and events. This coaching uses on-camera performance as the primary teaching and coaching tool.

Our Confidential, Critical Executive Coaching program helps executives communicate clearly, logically, and persuasively during media interviews, presentations, and testimony.

• We offer training programs that are generally targeted to middle corporate management, local plant, mill, or divisional office managers.

• Confidential, Critical Executive Coaching programs are structured to accommodate the experience, duties, and temperament of top executives who require a more sophisticated, often one-on-one approach.

Jim Lukaszewski personally conducts all sessions. All programs are provided as private workshops, custom tailored to specific client needs. Workshops may be conducted in the Twin Cities or another location of your choice. The most frequently used format is the single, full-day session for up to five participants. For the chairman or chief executive, coaching sessions are often conducted privately on a one-to-one basis and, if necessary, may be broken into two-to-four hour segments and conducted at different times or on different days.

The major focus is leadership in urgent situations more than media. Since most senior executives believe they’re already excellent communicators and can handle the media, the way we influence their behavior in interviews and other visibility situations is to focus on their needs as leaders and behavior models in their organizations and in public. Our approach is one highly concentrated day initially, with follow up and additional coaching as needed.
