"For the love of Christ controls us..."

-2 Corinthians 5: 14

The first organized missionary efforts began in Europe before the Reformation by the Moravians. With the Reformation, they came under severe persecution but did not lose their zeal to reach the lost with the gospel. They believed that in witnessing, you were to go straight to the point and tell people about the life and death of Jesus Christ. They rejected the idea you had to first give proof of God's existence and like other early missions that followed, avoided theological issues like predestination and election. They were not highly educated, and the first two missionaries they sent out were grave diggers by occupation. They sent 200 missionaries to two dozen countries and, by the gospel alone, awakened numerous sleeping hearts. It was clear that they believed "the love of Christ controls us... And He died for all, that they should no longer live for themselves, but for Him who died and rose again on their behalf." There are multiple reasons why believers do not witness in this modern age. But you only need one reason why you should. If Christ died for you, is it asking too much that you might die to yourself and to this world so that others may find salvation as God uses you? What a blessing to be controlled by the love of Christ. Be encouraged!
