Hello everyone, spent last Monday with nearly 200 of my closest IABC friends at the IABC Heritage Region 2018 Conference in Richmond Virginia. Talking about one of the profession’s greatest aspirations, to be a trusted strategic advisor.

Three Major lessons:

There is no table . . .you are the table if you choose to be.
What your boss wants from you is candor, truth with an attitude delivered right now
The greatest virtue of a trusted strategic advisor is inconsistency. (YES I mean inconsistency)

You should have been there . . .
Get the Handout. You can have a copy of my 43 page handout (FREE), 14,000 words, email jel@e911.com subject line IABC handout.

Lukaszewski’s Civility and Decency Manifesto

bigstock-Avoiding-Distractions-46003021

The true test of civility is a commitment to verbal and written communication that are predominantly positive and declarative and behaviors that are simple, sensitive, sensible, constructive, positive, helpful, empathetic and benefit the recipient out of proportion positively to the sender.

There are so many pathways to civility, decency, and integrity, pick as many as you can....

What is Your Civility Quotient (C/Q)?

It's beneficial to constantly test your verbal, written communication, deeds and actions to build your civility quotient. The lower your C/Q the longer it will take you to achieve a positive result. Hint: Use the reverse of any of theseand chances are you will wipe out your C/Q

"I continue to use the advice and wisdom you imparted to us in the early days of forestry on a nearly daily (and sometimes hourly) basis. At my youngest daughter's parent teacher conference two weeks ago the teacher asked (our daughter) what things she wanted to work on for the next semester, and she began with, "well, I want to avoid saying negative things, and when I want to say something like that I want to state it as a positive....my dad does that." We are trying to share your wisdom!
