"Love does not brag and is not arrogant."
-1 Corinthians 13:4
God is love. Love does not brag and is not arrogant. Therefore, God does not brag and is not arrogant. Arrogance was a Corinthian problem. They were gifted and knowledgeable, yet love, the most important thing, was missing. Paul told them that "Knowledge makes arrogant, but love edifies ."He warned them that "you might become arrogant." Later he wrote, "some have become arrogant," followed by, "you have become arrogant." Some theologians view arrogance, pride, and self-esteem as being no different. All represent me, myself, and I. Jeremiah wrote, "Thus says the Lord, ‘Let not a wise man boast of his wisdom, and let not the mighty man boast of his might, let not a rich man boast of his riches; But let him who boasts boast of this, that he understands and knows Me, that I am the Lord who exercises loving kindness, justice and righteousness on earth, for I delight in these things’ declares the Lord.” Paul borrowed from Jeremiah when he told the Corinthians, “Just as it is written, ‘let him who boasts, boast in the Lord.’” Let us exalt the Lord together. Be encouraged!
